The bill would amend the Election Code to include a justice of the peace in the definition of "state judge" for the purpose of allowing a justice of the peace to request omission of the justice's address from the election registration list. The bill would amend the Government Code to include a justice of the peace in the definition of "state judge" for the purpose of allowing a justice of the peace to use the justice's courthouse address in lieu of their residence address on a concealed handgun license and to indicate on the license the justice's status as a judge. The bill would amend the Tax Code to include a justice of the peace in the definition of "state judge" for the purpose of allowing a justice of the peace to restrict public access to information about the justice contained in tax appraisal rolls by submitting the request via the appropriate form to the comptroller of public accounts.
