The bill would authorize a local government entity that contracts with a volunteer fire department to provide emergency services to charge a reasonable fee for services performed by the department. The bill would also authorize a volunteer fire department that is not operating under a contract to directly charge a reasonable fee to persons for whom the department performs emergency services. Local Government Impact The revenue gain would vary by local government entity, depending on the amount of fees imposed and the success in collecting those fees. Any fees charged and collected would help offset costs associated with a contract for emergency services or for operations of the volunteer fire department and would be related to the specific usage of services.
