H.C.R. No. 155 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced by a great and enduring love, Duane and Martha Glover of Deport are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on April 8, 2009; and WHEREAS, Duane Glover and the former Martha Kelsey were united in matrimony in Deport on that special day in 1949; through the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the addition of three children, Marilyn, Betsy, and David, two grandchildren, Ty and Peyton, and a great-granddaughter, Tatum; and WHEREAS, For many years, Mr. Glover owned and operated a Deport pharmacy that he bought from his father and sold to his daughter, Marilyn, when he retired; in addition to running his family business, Mr. Glover was a member of the Deport City Council and the local school board, served for many years as the chief of the Deport Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the board of directors for McCuistion Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas; since retiring, he has had additional time for his hobby of gardening and for visiting with his loved ones; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Glover, who holds a degree in business, devoted her attention to her family when the children were young; she served on the Parent-Teacher Organization of Deport School and later worked in family businesses; she has played organ for the First United Methodist Church of Deport since the age of 12 and is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; and WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past six decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Duane and Martha Glover on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Glover as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
