 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Lance Armstrong Foundation has opened a new
 headquarters in East Austin; and
 WHEREAS, This facility will aid the foundation in its mission
 to provide resources and support to cancer patients and survivors;
 employing environmentally friendly design elements and constructed
 with a large amount of reused material, the headquarters is an
 outstanding example of sustainable architecture; and
 WHEREAS, Overseeing the building's construction was Doug
 Ulman, president and CEO of the Lance Armstrong Foundation; Mr.
 Ulman is a three-time cancer survivor and a well-known advocate for
 cancer research and treatment; he currently serves in such
 positions as chair of the consumer liaison group of the National
 Cancer Institute and as board member of the Ulman Cancer Fund for
 Young Adults, and he has received many honors for his diligent work
 in behalf of the foundation; and
 WHEREAS, The Lance Armstrong Foundation is doing an
 exceptional job of raising awareness, funding research, and
 connecting people and communities to combat cancer, and its
 presence in Austin is furthering the Lone Star State's prominence
 as a leader in the battle against this deadly disease; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Lance Armstrong Foundation on
 the opening of its new headquarters in Austin and commend Doug Ulman
 and the rest of the foundation staff for their numerous
 accomplishments; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the foundation as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
