H.R. No. 1297 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced by a great and enduring love, Novert and Mary Merino of Midland celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on January 31, 2009; and WHEREAS, Novert Merino and the former Mary Espinoza were united in matrimony on that special day in 1944 at a ceremony held in Bastrop; through the decades, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with each passing year; and WHEREAS, Mr. Merino worked for Colorama Company and Renditions I, formerly Town and Country Decorators, for many years until his retirement; Mrs. Merino retired as a seamstress for Dunlap's after a career that spanned 32 years; the couple are active members in the Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past 65 years, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Novert and Mary Merino on the occasion of their 65th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Merino as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
