 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Dora Carvajal Ramos retired from her position as
 director of constituent affairs for Representative Jose Menendez in
 January 2009 after years of conscientious and dedicated service to
 the citizens of District 124; and
 WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Mrs. Ramos
 graduated from Fox Tech High School, where she was a member of the
 National Honor Society, and she went on to attend San Antonio
 College and Trinity University; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Ramos has shared her time with a number of
 worthwhile endeavors through the decades, serving as a committee
 member for the Palm Heights and Collins Garden Community
 Organizations, the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project
 Annual Dinner, and a number of events honoring prominent public
 officials; and
 WHEREAS, Her generous contributions to her community and the
 State of Texas are also reflected in her work as a mental health
 board member and volunteer, participation in the CHIPS sign-up
 program, assistance to an AIDS call-in center, and service to the
 Collins Garden Literary Council; and
 WHEREAS, Committed to encouraging informed and active
 participation in government, Mrs. Ramos has been state coordinator
 of the SVREP Inner City Voter Registration Education Project; she
 has further shared her time and talents with the Mayor's Commission
 on the Status of Women, the Texas and Bexar County Democratic
 Headquarters, and Public Broadcasting Service fund-raising events;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Ramos is a faithful and active parishioner at
 St. James Catholic Church, where she has served her fellow members
 as Eucharistic minister and with Guadalupanas, the Altar Society,
 and the Stephens Ministry; and
 WHEREAS, She has shared nearly half a century with her
 husband, Alfred, with whom she has five children, Fred Ramos, Debra
 Ramos-Martinez, D'Annette Ramos, Dina Louise Ramos, and Dr. Darlene
 Ramos; today, she is also the proud grandmother of three; and
 WHEREAS, While she nurtured and raised her family, Dora Ramos
 has worked tirelessly in behalf of the citizens of San Antonio; her
 ready smile and caring nature will be missed in the office of
 Representative Menendez, but her dedicated efforts will continue to
 resonate in her community and beyond; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Dora Carvajal Ramos on her
 retirement from the office of State Representative Jose Menendez
 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mrs. Ramos as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
