H.R. No. 1374 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Joshua C. Ruder, a senior at Communications Arts High School in San Antonio, has deservedly been named a scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program; and WHEREAS, An initiative of the College Board, the National Hispanic Recognition Program honors those Hispanic students who score well on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholar Qualifying Test and who maintain a satisfactory grade point average; and WHEREAS, The son of Angela and Craig Ruder, this outstanding young Texan takes part in video production and environmental activism projects and is a lifeguard and a freshman mentor; in addition, he is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society; and WHEREAS, Mr. Ruder has earned several distinctions in his scholastic career, including the Texas Environmental Excellence Award in the youth category; he is a dedicated student, maintaining a grade point average of 97.56, and he plans to further his education at the University of Arizona; and WHEREAS, Soon to embark on an exciting new chapter in his life, Joshua Ruder may indeed reflect with pride on his numerous accomplishments and look with anticipation toward a bright and promising future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Joshua Ruder on his selection as a scholar finalist in the 2008-2009 National Hispanic Recognition Program and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Ruder as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
