 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Clayton Williams, Jr., was awarded the Texas A&M
 University Michel T. Halbouty Geosciences Medal in a ceremony held
 on March 24, 2009; and
 WHEREAS, Established in the late 1970s, the Halbouty Medal
 recognizes individuals affiliated with Texas A&M for their
 outstanding achievements in the discovery, use, and application of
 geosciences and in the conservation of earth resources; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Williams, chair and president of Clayton
 Williams Energy, Inc., graduated from Texas A&M in 1954 and drilled
 his first successful oil well five years later; he has since been
 extensively involved in oil and gas development in Louisiana, New
 Mexico, and Texas, where he played a pivotal role in the discovery
 of deep gas fields in the western part of the state; and
 WHEREAS, Respected for his ingenuity and vision, Clayton
 Williams has distinguished himself as a highly accomplished
 businessman, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor this enterprising
 Texan; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Clayton Williams, Jr., on his
 receipt of the Texas A&M University Michel T. Halbouty Geosciences
 Medal and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Williams as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
