No. 1607 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, No words can soften the blow of a young life cut short, and we join the family and friends of Valeria Garcia of Bluetown in mourning her passing on February 17, 2009, at the age of 11; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Francisco and Maria Garcia, Valeria was born on August 15, 1997; she was a kind and loving big sister to her younger brothers, Frank and Alexis, and took great delight in making plans for family events and activities; and WHEREAS, Valeria was a sixth grade student at Santa Maria Middle School, where she consistently earned a place on the honor roll; with her outgoing personality and enthusiasm, she also excelled on the cheerleading squad; in addition, she competed in the University Interscholastic League Ready Writing contest; and WHEREAS, Creative and artistic, Valeria enjoyed crafts projects, among them weaving, making key chains, and constructing Christmas trees out of wire hangers; and WHEREAS, This lovely young lady was a treasured member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church; her courteous manner and happy smile endeared her to her fellow parishioners as she took part in a variety of activities, including the fund-raising carnival; moreover, she expressed her faith through her contributions as an altar server; and WHEREAS; Adored by her close-knit family, Valeria brought joy to many people through her sweet nature and vibrant personality; although she will be deeply missed, those who shared in the blessing of her life will forever carry her close in their hearts and cherish their memories of time spent in her company; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Valeria Garcia and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her parents, Francisco and Maria Garcia; to her brothers, Frank J. Garcia and Alexis Elian Garcia; to her paternal grandparents, Jose P. Ortega and Minerva Gonzalez; to her maternal grandmother, Nicasia Martinez; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Valeria Garcia.
