 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Honorable Judy Schier Hobbs was named Judge of
 the Year in 2009 by the Central Texas Justices of the Peace and
 Constables Association; and
 WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Williamson County, this
 dedicated public servant has been a judge since May 1982, and she is
 in her seventh term as the justice of the peace for Precinct 4; over
 the course of her tenure, Judge Hobbs has worked diligently to
 ensure that her office remains equipped with the latest technology
 in order to meet the needs of the growing community, and she has
 also helped educate the public as a speaker at various events and
 before schools and civic groups; and
 WHEREAS, The president of the Texas Justice Court Judges
 Association, Judge Hobbs has been affiliated with several
 professional organizations, including both the Texas State Child
 Fatality Review Team Committee and the Williamson County Child
 Fatality Review Team; she was also on the board of the Williamson
 County Crisis Center and is a past chair of the Williamson County
 Child Welfare Board; in addition, she has held a number of
 leadership positions within the Central Texas Justices of the Peace
 and Constables Association, serving as its president and chaplain,
 and as the chair of its Legislative Committee; and
 WHEREAS, Judge Hobbs has further dedicated her time to such
 community groups as the Taylor, Round Rock, and Hutto Chambers of
 Commerce, the East Williamson County Interagency Support Council,
 and the Order of the Eastern Star; she has also been active in her
 church, where she created a program that provides assistance to
 families in need during the holiday season; and
 WHEREAS, Recognized many times for her notable achievements
 and contributions, Judge Hobbs was named an Outstanding Community
 Leader by the Taylor Jaycees, and she also previously received the
 Judge of the Year accolade from the Justices of Peace and Constables
 Association of Texas; moreover, in 2000, she was given the
 Honorable Ted Poe Good Judge Award by the Texas Gang Investigators
 Association; and
 WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, Judge Hobbs has embodied
 the highest standards of her profession, and with an unwavering
 commitment to her fellow residents, she has rendered immeasurable
 service to her community; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Judge Judy Schier Hobbs on being
 named Judge of the Year by the Central Texas Justices of the Peace
 and Constables Association and extend to her sincere best wishes
 for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Judge Hobbs as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
