No. 198 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love and shared experiences, and Carl and Carolyn Hilderbran of Uvalde are celebrating this joyous milestone in their marriage on January 28, 2009; and WHEREAS, Carl Hilderbran and the former Carolyn Cecile Guidry met while they were enrolled at Texas A&I University; two months after meeting, they were married at a ceremony held in his sister's home in Sinton; and WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Hilderbran have been blessed with a treasured family that includes four sons, Victor Guidry Hilderbran, Joseph Anthony Hilderbran, Carl Byron Hilderbran, Jr., and Representative Harvey Ray Hilderbran, and they have delighted in the addition of six grandchildren, Sarah, Roy, Byron, Cecile, Haley, and Callie, to their circle of loved ones; and WHEREAS, An Eagle Scout and a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Mr. Hilderbran has enjoyed success as a farmer, rancher, and real estate developer; he worked at USDA Soil Conservation Services, Darr Equipment, and Holt Equipment, and established his own business, C & H Machinery; today he raises homing pigeons, winning competitions throughout the nation as well as abroad; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Hilderbran was an inspiring role model as a teacher and counselor over the course of a career in education that spanned nearly three decades; now retired, she is a formidable bridge player; and WHEREAS, For more than 50 years, the couple have made their home in Uvalde, where they worship at St. Philip's Episcopal Church; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hilderbran have nurtured an abiding love for one another for six decades, and they are among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Carl and Carolyn Hilderbran on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hilderbran as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
