 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Jason Castro of Rockwall has distinguished himself
 as a musician and entertainer with his notable effort on the seventh
 season of television's American Idol; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Dallas and raised in Rowlett, Mr. Castro
 majored in construction science at Texas A&M University; an
 accomplished drummer and guitarist, he sang publicly only five
 times before winning a place on the popular talent show; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Castro turned in many well-received
 performances on American Idol, including a compelling rendition of
 Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" and an interpretation of Dolly
 Parton's "Travelin' Thru"; he finished in fourth place in the show's
 2008 season and landed a spot on the successful American Idols Live!
 tour; and
 WHEREAS, This gifted Texan is also very active in his
 community of faith; he played drums with a Hispanic ministry team at
 Lake Pointe Church, and he performed at youth worship ceremonies
 throughout high school; moreover, he has travelled to Russia three
 times with Higher Goal, a soccer-based ministry program; and
 WHEREAS, Jason Castro won the admiration of millions of fans
 around the country and internationally, and he has set an inspiring
 example for all those with the ambition to pursue a career in the
 performing arts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Jason Castro on his outstanding
 performance on American Idol and extend to him sincere best wishes
 for success in all of his future endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Castro as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
