No. 2142 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Lori Gasaway of Houston reached a special milestone in her life with the celebration of her 50th birthday on December 13, 2008; and WHEREAS, Lori Elizabeth Brown Gasaway was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1958; the daughter of Mary Elizabeth and Leroy Arvel Brown, she moved with her family to Texas in 1973 and graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston in 1976; and WHEREAS, Ms. Gasaway later attended the University of Houston and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she maintained a 4.0 grade point average; she balanced her studies with her work as a ticket agent for Southwest Airlines; after 21 years with that company, she started her own business, Gasaway Manufacturing, and is currently one of the owners of KGI Machine Tools; and WHEREAS, A singer and pianist, Ms. Gasaway performed with her high school a capella, madrigal, and jazz choirs and has sung with many church choirs; she is an active patron of the arts in the Houston community, maintaining memberships in the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum of Natural Science, and she continues to be a lifelong supporter of music, theater, dance, and all the fine arts; other interests include oil painting and gardening, and she takes great pleasure in cultivating roses; and WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Lori Gasaway enjoys the love and support of her husband, Kent, her daughter, Rachel, and her brothers, Joel and Tim, and she continues to honor the memory of her late brother, Daniel Leroy Brown; renowned for her thoughtfulness, her dedication, and her caring nature, she has earned the respect and admiration of all who know her, and she may indeed reflect with pride on all she has accomplished thus far and look with anticipation toward the opportunities that lie ahead; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature congratulate Lori Gasaway on her 50th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Gasaway as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
