H.R. No. 2163 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Stacey Barrera has served with distinction in the office of State Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr., since August 2008; and WHEREAS, As constituent liaison, Ms. Barrera skillfully handles a variety of important duties; helping to make the office an effective resource center for the people of District 33, she has addressed inquiries about Medicaid, disability, APS, CPS, the Texas Workforce Commission, and more; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Calallen High School, Ms. Barrera earned an associate's degree in liberal arts from Del Mar College, and she is graduating from Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi with a bachelor's degree in history in May 2009; and WHEREAS, Ms. Barrera has accumulated an impressive resume of political experience; she has worked for the Nueces County Democratic Party as an election administrative assistant during the primary elections and as a paid worker to support candidate visits to Corpus Christi during the 2008 presidential primary; she is currently a Democratic Party precinct chair in Nueces County and a member of Coastal Bend Texas Democratic Women, where she serves as the communications committee chair; and WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Roy and Diana Barrera, she hopes to earn her master's degree in public policy and plans to pursue a career in government; and WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure, Ms. Barrera has been a valued and trusted staff member in the office of Representative Ortiz, and her hard work and dedication have helped to ensure its efficient functioning over the course of the legislative session; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend Stacey Barrera for her contributions and accomplishments as constituent liaison in the office of Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr., and extend to her best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Barrera as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
