H.R. No. 2363
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Nicole Benjamin has been named the Teacher of the
Year for 2009 at Parker Elementary School in Houston; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Benjamin is a graduate of the University of
Houston-Downtown, where she majored in interdisciplinary studies;
since embarking on her career, she has distinguished herself as a
physical education instructor for the past four years; and
WHEREAS, Her experience with motherhood inspired her to
become a teacher when she realized how much her son enjoyed
learning, and she conveys that same enthusiasm to her students; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Benjamin is active in her community as a member
of the Parent Teacher Organization at both Parker Elementary and
Johnston Middle Schools, and she has served on the board of Westbury
Little League and is a member of Lakewood Church; and
WHEREAS, There is no more important work than educating the
children of Texas, and Nicole Benjamin's notable achievement is a
fitting acknowledgment of the positive and lasting difference one
committed person can make in the lives of young people; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Nicole Benjamin on her selection as
the 2009 Teacher of the Year by Parker Elementary School and extend
to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Benjamin as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
