 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Stork's Nest program has helped many expectant
 mothers in El Paso to deliver healthy, full-term babies; and
 WHEREAS, Part of a national collaboration between Zeta Phi
 Beta Sorority, Inc., and the March of Dimes, Stork's Nest
 encourages low-income pregnant women to get early, regular prenatal
 care through earned incentives; and
 WHEREAS, In El Paso, the program is administered in part by
 the Eta Iota Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, which united
 with the local chapter of the March of Dimes to create a Stork's
 Nest Center; the facility opened on November 17, 2007, and today it
 serves 235 young women, most of whom are between the ages of 13 and
 19; and
 WHEREAS, Participants earn points for abstaining from drugs
 and alcohol, keeping regularly scheduled doctor appointments, and
 attending prenatal classes offered at the center; points are
 redeemable for such infant necessities as cribs, car seats, and
 strollers; and
 WHEREAS, The El Paso Stork's Nest program is providing an
 invaluable public health service, and its efforts are truly worthy
 of commendation; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the El Paso Stork's Nest for its work to
 promote prenatal care and extend sincere best wishes for continued
 success to all those associated with this worthwhile initiative;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the El Paso Stork's Nest as an expression of high
 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
