 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
 passing of Waxahachie resident Charlie E. Pace on January 18, 2009,
 at the age of 85; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Somervell County on September 5, 1923,
 Mr. Pace married the love of his life, Evelyn, in 1953; together
 they shared more than half a century and raised a daughter, Janis;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Pace served his country with distinction in
 World War II as a member of the 78th Infantry, 311 Regiment, in the
 European theater; he continued his military service for 25 years
 with the Texas State Guard, retiring as a lieutenant colonel; and
 WHEREAS, He started working in the grocery business when he
 was only 14, and he went back to the work following the war; after
 more than three decades of service with the Kroger Company, he
 retired in 1986 and later went to work with Wayne Boze Funeral Home;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Pace was a valued member of the Waxahachie
 community; president of Ellis County Christian Men's Fellowship
 Breakfast and post commander of the JoVan Marchbanks American
 Legion Post No. 137, he was also a charter member of the Waxahachie
 Kiwanis Club, life member of the VFW, and member of the Zoning Board
 of Adjustment for the City of Waxahachie; and
 WHEREAS, Active in University Assembly of God Church, he
 served his fellow congregants as Sunday school superintendent,
 board member, and head usher; he also directed devotions for the
 adult department, shared his time with the visitation and hospital
 outreach ministries, and served as director of District Light for
 the Lost for more than 17 years; and
 WHEREAS, In his free time, Mr. Pace enjoyed visiting with his
 family, tending to his well-groomed lawn, cheering on the Texas
 Rangers, and going to the rodeo; and
 WHEREAS, Charlie Pace was held in the highest regard by all
 who knew him, and he leaves behind memories that will be forever
 treasured by his family and friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Charlie E. Pace and
 extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
 Evelyn Vaden Pace; to his daughter, Janis Gail Pace; to his
 brothers, Verdie Pace and his wife, Wynell, and Marlin Pace and his
 wife, Doris; to his sisters, Joy Mann and Eva Pace; and to his other
 relatives and many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Charlie E.
 Pace.
