No. 2797 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Marsha Lister has rendered exceptional service to the Sunnyside community in her role as recreation and facility manager of Sunnyside Park in Houston; and WHEREAS, A native Houstonian, Ms. Lister graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School and studied at Texas Southern University; she has been employed by Houston Parks and Recreation for 30 years and has received several professional honors, including her selection as Outstanding Recreator by the Texas Recreation and Park Society; and WHEREAS, Ms. Lister has established valuable initiatives to serve senior residents of Sunnyside, such as an indoor floor hockey league and classes in fitness and computers; she has also organized after-school activities for youth and developed scouting adventure programs in her work as a commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America; and WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Lister enjoys the love and support of her husband, Adrian, their son, Eric, and their three grandchildren; Ms. Lister has been a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church for 42 years; and WHEREAS, Through her dedicated efforts to make Sunnyside Park a true community resource, Marsha Lister has been a positive influence in the lives of numerous area residents, and she may take justifiable pride in a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor Marsha Lister for her three decades of outstanding work as recreation and facility manager of Sunnyside Park and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Lister as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
