H.R. No. 349 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Kitty Boyle of Irving was a dedicated member of the Dallas County Community College District Board of Trustees for 12 years, and her second term drew to a close in 2008; and WHEREAS, First elected to the board in 1996, Ms. Boyle was inspired to support the DCCCD after learning about the needs of community colleges through her public service in other arenas; her initial interest soon turned to passion, and she advocated for community colleges on both the local and national levels; she served as chair of the DCCCD Board of Trustees from 2000 to 2003, followed by service as the 2006-2007 chair of the Association of Community College Trustees, which she served as a member of the executive committee; and WHEREAS, Ms. Boyle brought to these roles a wealth of civic activism that began with her service as a homeroom mother and member of the PTA in the late 1960s; through the years, she went on to share her time and talents with a growing number of organizations, including the Irving YMCA, the Irving Parks and Recreation Board, the Dallas County Parks and Open Space Board, and the City of Irving Convention and Visitors Bureau; she has also contributed her expertise to the Children's Medical Center Foundation, the Irving Heritage Society, the Irving Healthcare Foundation Guild, the Irving Lyric Stage, and Irving Park People, which she founded; and WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, this esteemed woman married John F. Boyle, Jr., in 1962; the couple subsequently made their home in Dallas, where Ms. Boyle earned her paralegal certification from the Dallas/Fort Worth School of Law and joined her husband's law firm of Boyle and Lowry as an administrator; together, Mr. and Ms. Boyle have raised six children, Fitz, Ben, Matthew, Johnathan, Eileen, and Rebecca, and welcomed eight grandchildren into their cherished family; and WHEREAS, With her characteristic enthusiasm, energy, and insight, Kitty Boyle has set an example of leadership and service to which all may aspire, and it is a pleasure to honor her myriad efforts in behalf of the greater good; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend Kitty Boyle on her exemplary service to the Dallas County Community College District Board of Trustees and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Boyle as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
