 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, John Fielder of San Antonio has made significant
 contributions to the community through his involvement in
 charitable organizations and activities; and
 WHEREAS, A seventh-generation Texan, Mr. Fielder is
 descended from members of the Old Three Hundred, those settlers who
 received grants of land in Stephen F. Austin's first colony; Mr.
 Fielder served his country in the U.S. Marines and went on to become
 owner of the Quality Auto Group; his dealerships supported local
 congregations by advertising in their publications, hosting
 cookouts and barbecue fund-raisers, and making donations to
 churches designated by customers; moreover, the Quality Auto Group
 collected hundreds of coats and donated them to SAMMinistries,
 which aids the homeless and the impoverished; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Fielder publishes a free newspaper that
 advocates for crime victims and promotes the apprehension of
 criminals by featuring photographs of individuals sought by the
 police; he is a supporter of Samaritan's Purse International Relief
 and particularly of its Children's Heart Project, to which he
 donated a 15-passenger van; the vehicle provides transportation to
 local hospitals for young heart patients and their families; in
 addition, he supports a countywide program to provide school
 supplies for children whose parents cannot afford them; and
 WHEREAS, John Fielder has given generously of his time,
 energy, and financial resources, and his philanthropic endeavors
 have brightened the lives of countless individuals; now, therefore,
 be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby commend John Fielder for his service to San
 Antonio and to those in need and extend to him sincere appreciation
 for his notable record of good works; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Fielder as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
