Phillips of San Antonio celebrated her 60th birthday on February 20, 2008, marking a very special milestone in the life of this outstanding Texan; and WHEREAS, A magna cum laude graduate of Dunbar High School in Livingston, the former Mildred Williams earned her LVN certification in 1967 and worked for a time at Polk County Hospital; she went on to complete registered nurse training at the Baptist Health System School of Health Professions in San Antonio and to join the nursing staff of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health Care, where her career spanned more than 25 years and included service as director of case management; following a three-month retirement, she returned to work as a case manager at Baptist Health System; and WHEREAS, Ms. Phillips has further distinguished herself as deaconess and youth director at Mount Sinai Baptist Church and deputy chief of staff and program coordinator for the American Baptist Eastern General Association of Texas; in addition, she generously shares her time in behalf of the community through a variety of charitable endeavors; and WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, this esteemed woman is the loving wife of Lee Phillips, whom she married on March 27, 1970, and the proud mother of Marc Jermaine Phillips and Stephanie Nicole Phillips; moreover, she delights in the company of her grandchildren, Marquis and Ashley Finch and Jordan Phillips, and she enjoys a close relationship with her younger siblings; and WHEREAS, Through the years, Mildred Phillips has inspired others with her dedication, her faith, and her kind and caring nature, and it is a great pleasure to recognize her six decades of life well lived; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Mildred L. Phillips on her 60th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Phillips as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
