 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The McCamey Chamber of Commerce has celebrated an
 impressive milestone with the commemoration of its 50th anniversary
 in 2009; and
 WHEREAS, Situated on the windswept plains east of the Pecos
 River, McCamey is a warm-hearted community of hardworking citizens;
 the town was named for oil wildcatter George B. McCamey, who brought
 in a discovery well nearby in 1925; a townsite company was
 established the next day, and within six months, the new community
 of McCamey numbered 10,000; and
 WHEREAS, Still an important center for oil and ranching,
 McCamey has also become a center for wind energy, generated by long
 rows of giant turbines silhouetted against the vast West Texas sky;
 and
 WHEREAS, Since 1959, the McCamey Chamber of Commerce has
 contributed greatly to the friendly business environment of McCamey
 and Upton County, and its members may take great pride in their
 achievements over the years; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the McCamey Chamber of Commerce on
 its 50th anniversary and extend to its members sincere best wishes
 for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the McCamey Chamber of Commerce as an expression of
 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
