81R6537 JNC-D By: McClendon H.R. No. 429 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The members of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio honored the Reverend John A. Hall on his half-century of service to the congregation on May 4, 2008; and WHEREAS, Since joining Trinity in April 1958, Reverend Hall has worked in behalf of the church's membership and area citizens, offering comfort and guidance to those in need and expanding services to include a House of Prayer and Prayer Hotline, as well as video, television, and radio ministries; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Phillis Wheatley High School, Reverend Hall served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II; he went on to earn bachelor's degrees from St. Mary's University and Guadalupe Theological College, where he also completed his doctoral degree; an instructor there for more than 40 years, he currently serves the college as dean of student affairs; and WHEREAS, Reverend Hall has further contributed to his community of faith through his leadership in the Guadalupe Baptist District Association and College; initially serving as vice moderator and later as interim moderator, he was elected moderator in 2001 and served with distinction in that role until 2004; and WHEREAS, Reverend Hall has served the greater community as well through his involvement with the San Antonio Comprehensive Nutrition Project, the annual Martin Luther King Day celebration, and Genesis, a drug rehabilitation program; in addition, he is a member of the Baptist Ministers Union of San Antonio and Vicinity and the Educational Board of the National Baptist Convention of America; and WHEREAS, John Hall has enhanced the lives of countless individuals during his tenure at Trinity Missionary Baptist, and he may indeed reflect with joy on all he has accomplished over the course of his service with the church; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend John A. Hall on his 50th anniversary with Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Reverend Hall as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
