R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, Gil and Cheryl Holt of Bedford
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 17, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Holt exchanged the vows of matrimony in
South Bend, Indiana, on that special day in 1959; through the years,
they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage, become the parents of
three children, Gail, Glenn, and Gloria, and welcomed four
grandchildren into their family; and
WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Holt worked
for the Indiana State Police until his retirement and is now an
active corporate pilot and flight instructor; Mrs. Holt, a
homemaker, is a former orchestral cellist; residents of Bedford
since 1986, this esteemed couple are both avid musicians, and they
enjoy membership at the Brown Trail Church of Christ, where they
delight in singing together; and
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world during the past
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
has enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with
grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Gil and Cheryl Holt on the occasion
of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Holt as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
