 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Eastfield College opened the doors of its new
 Learning Center on its Mesquite campus on February 5, 2009; and
 WHEREAS, One of seven campuses in the Dallas County Community
 College District, Eastfield College has been providing an
 affordable and accessible education to residents of southeastern
 Dallas County since 1970; it offers career programs in technical
 and service fields, as well as academic transfer programs through
 which students can earn arts and sciences associate's degrees that
 meet the freshman and sophomore course requirements for a
 bachelor's degree at a four-year institution; Eastfield serves
 approximately 10,000 students each semester and features workforce
 and continuing education classes for students of all ages; and
 WHEREAS, The Learning Center at Eastfield College is a
 55,000-square-foot building designed to allow for greater
 interaction between students and instructors; the center includes
 faculty offices and learning studios that are equipped with the
 latest technology and are designed to facilitate interactive
 lessons and discussions and to accommodate the needs of a variety of
 classes; and
 WHEREAS, This notable institution is expanding to meet the
 needs of its current and future students, and its efforts are
 helping to ensure that opportunities for a high-quality, advanced
 education are readily available to area Texans; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Eastfield College on the grand opening of
 its Learning Center and extend to all those associated with the
 college sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Eastfield College as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
