 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Emily Elizabeth Gould of Girl Scouts of America
 Troop No. 2529 in Fort Worth has attained the organization's
 highest commendation, the Gold Award, and she is being recognized
 at a ceremony on March 29, 2009, at St. Stephen Presbyterian Church;
 and
 WHEREAS, To achieve this distinction, a young woman must meet
 requirements that promote community service, personal growth,
 positive values, and leadership skills; in addition, she must plan
 and implement a special Girl Scout Gold Award project of at least 50
 work hours that meets a need in her community; and
 WHEREAS, For her project, Ms. Gould focused on the issue of
 childhood obesity; to promote exercise among young students, she
 repainted the playground at a local elementary school, developed
 games for children to play on the hopscotch and foursquare
 patterns, and spent a day teaching the games to the students; and
 WHEREAS, A Paschal High School senior, Ms. Gould is a 13-year
 member of Girl Scouts who has earned the organization's Bronze and
 Silver Awards; during the summer of 2008, she represented the Texas
 Oklahoma Plains Council at an international scouting event in
 London, England; and
 WHEREAS, Emily Gould has proven herself to be an exemplary
 and productive member of the Girl Scouts and her community, and she
 may reflect with great pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Emily Elizabeth Gould on her
 receipt of the Girl Scout Gold Award and extend to her best wishes
 for the coming years; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Gould as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
