 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Lou Jean
 Doak of Waco, who passed away on January 16, 2009, at the age of 84;
 and
 WHEREAS, Born on February 7, 1924, Lou Jean Doak was a native
 of Valparaiso, Indiana; she went on to attend college and study
 business, and she met Steve Doak in 1944; after Mr. Doak's
 discharge from the U.S. Navy the following year, the couple fell in
 love, and they were married on May 19, 1946; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. Doak worked as a realtor in Indiana, and she
 also shared her shorthand talents as a secretary for a variety of
 businesses; Mr. Doak's profession often required the couple to move
 across the country, and thus, his sociable wife had friends in
 Michigan, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, and Texas; known for her
 bright smile, Mrs. Doak delighted in the company of these
 acquaintances, with whom she enjoyed rounds of golf and shopping
 trips; she was also an active member of the Waco First United
 Methodist Church, and she loved her Sunday school class; and
 WHEREAS, Lou Jean Doak enhanced the lives of many with her
 vibrant personality and her caring nature, and her memory will
 forever be treasured in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough
 to know her; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lou Jean Doak and
 extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband
 of 62 years, Steve Doak; to her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and
 Donna Doak; to her granddaughters, Stephanie Doak and Samantha
 Urbantke and her husband, Tab; to her great-grandchildren, Doak and
 Claire Urbantke; and to her other relatives and many friends; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lou Jean
 Doak.
