R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of the Harlingen Area Builders Association
are gathering at the State Capitol on February 25,2009; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 2005, HABA is a nonprofit organization
focused on uniting Harlingen area builders and educating citizens
as well as professionals in the industry about important
construction issues; the association also provides its members
opportunities for networking and organizes projects to assist local
charitable groups; and
WHEREAS, Initiatives created and promoted by HABA include a
home show, the New Home Tour, and a scholarship program to benefit
students completing building and technology studies at Texas State
Technical College; the association also gives its support to the
Ronald McDonald House, the Family Crisis Center, and the Children's
Center at Valley Baptist Medical Center, and it helps build
handicap ramps and carries out other socially responsible
endeavors; and
WHEREAS, By joining forces to help strengthen their industry,
the members of HABA are contributing to economic prosperity in
South Texas while also assisting worthwhile community causes, and
their actions are indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby welcome the Harlingen Area Builders Association
to the State Capitol and extend to its members sincere best wishes
for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
