H.R. No. 630
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, Dewey and Daphne Baucum of Midland
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 22, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Dewey Baucum and the former Daphne Newman were
united in matrimony at Grove Hill Methodist Church near Leonard on
that special day in 1959; through the years, they have nurtured a
fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with the
addition of three children, Beth, Denise, and David, five
grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Baucum worked for Midland Independent School
District as an agriculture teacher until his retirement; Mrs.
Baucum is a homemaker; the couple are members of St. Paul United
Methodist Church in Midland; and
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
half-century, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant
in their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love
has enabled them to meet life's challenges with grace and optimism;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Dewey and Daphne Baucum on the
occasion of their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Baucum as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
