H.R. No. 743 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Lily B. Clayton Elementary School in Fort Worth was named a 2008 Just for the Kids--Higher Performing School by the National Center for Educational Achievement; and WHEREAS, Established in 1995 by the NCEA, Just for the Kids is a program designed to find and fulfill every school's potential for reaching academic excellence and to ensure that all students are prepared for college and careers; JFTK identifies Higher Performing Schools that meet stringent criteria over multiple years and across all subjects; the best practices of these institutions are measured to determine a framework for improvement in other schools, and the Higher Performing Schools serve as models for raising scholastic standards nationwide; and WHEREAS, Known as the "Home of the Bees," Lily B. Clayton Elementary School has a population of approximately 490 students who are skillfully led by principal Elizabeth Hollinger; this noteworthy school seeks to fulfill the mission of the Fort Worth Independent School District to provide and support rigorous learning opportunities which result in the successful completion of a quality high school experience for its students; and WHEREAS, Through commitment, hard work, and perseverance, the teachers and students of Lily B. Clayton Elementary School have built an impressive record of academic achievement, and their outstanding efforts were duly recognized with this Higher Performing School designation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby honor Lily B. Clayton Elementary School on its selection as a 2008 Just for the Kids--Higher Performing School and extend to its teachers, students, and staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
