H.R. No. 797 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The Tomball High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps helps prepare young Texans for the responsibilities of adulthood while teaching them the fundamental principles that underlie good citizenship; and WHEREAS, Commissioned in 1994, Tomball Junior ROTC began under the leadership of Master Chief Cab Boston, Jr., and Commander Gaston Buford, who continue to provide able guidance to the unit; in addition, Chief Erick Geisler has been helping to direct the school's cadets since 2001; and WHEREAS, Tomball Junior ROTC has been considered an Honor Unit for the past two years, and its drill team recently finished 10th in state competition; moreover, the 165 cadets at Tomball accumulated a total of 2,200 community service hours in 2008; and WHEREAS, By participating in Tomball Junior ROTC, members gain a better understanding of ethical values and develop a range of important qualities, including leadership ability, physical fitness, and cooperative teamwork skills; in so doing, they are laying the foundation for a lifelong commitment to excellence that will be of lasting benefit to their communities; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby recognize the Tomball High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps and extend to its officers and cadets sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the program as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
