No. 916 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Flight paramedic Stephanie Waters of Cedar Park died in the line of duty on June 8, 2008, at the age of 27, bringing a tragic loss to all who were privileged to know this brave and compassionate young woman; and WHEREAS, A gifted and extraordinarily dedicated professional, Ms. Waters was attending a patient en route from Huntsville to Houston when their helicopter crashed; and WHEREAS, Inspired by her mother, a paramedic in Marble Falls, Ms. Waters began basic training as an emergency medical technician when she was still too young to take the licensing exam; she joined an ambulance unit immediately after graduating from Marble Falls High School and also went on to work part-time as an instructor at schools around the state; in 2006, her love of flying led her to join the PHI Air Medical unit based in Bryan; she was respected for her skills in the field and admired as a CPR teacher and a mentor to future paramedics; and WHEREAS, Ms. Waters met her husband, fellow paramedic Christopher Waters, while teaching a class at Central Texas College in Killeen, and the couple enjoyed a close, loving relationship; and WHEREAS, Although her time on this earth ended far too soon, Stephanie Waters lived out her dreams of flight and service to others, and her joyful devotion to her calling will long be remembered by all who shared in her love and friendship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Stephanie Waters and extend sincerest sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, Christopher Waters; to her mother, Pam Gower; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Stephanie Waters.
