 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The National Association of Town Watch (NATW)
 sponsors a nationwide crime, drug, and violence prevention program
 entitled National Night Out Against Crime; and
 WHEREAS, The annual National Night Out event provides an
 opportunity for Texans to join forces with thousands of other
 communities across the country in promoting cooperative,
 police-community crime prevention efforts; and
 WHEREAS, Residents of the Lone Star State play a vital role in
 assisting their local law enforcement agencies in meeting the goals
 of this important initiative by demonstrating responsible
 citizenship, a respect for law, and a commitment to crime-free
 neighborhoods; and
 WHEREAS, The importance of reducing crime, drug use, and
 violence cannot be overstated, and by taking part in National Night
 Out observances, Texans affirm their commitment to making their
 communities stronger and safer; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize National Night Out Against Crime as an
 essential crime prevention program in the State of Texas and
 commend all those involved in this vital endeavor.
