R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Residents of the Rio Grande Valley joined together
on March 14, 2009, to celebrate the grand opening of the McAllen
Heritage Center; and
WHEREAS, Founded in June 2008, the McAllen Heritage Center
aims to promote and preserve local history and culture; in addition
to working to safeguard area buildings, the center serves as a
storehouse for artifacts from the region, hosts exhibits, and
offers educational tours and events; and
WHEREAS, Currently, the initiative is fostering a greater
understanding and appreciation of the city's history through a
series of videos in which area historians share stories and local
lore; and
WHEREAS, McAllen represents a colorful thread in the tapestry
of Texas history, and the McAllen Heritage Center will help to
ensure that its unique history will be preserved for generations to
come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the grand opening of the McAllen
Heritage Center and extend to all involved with this worthwhile
initiative sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
