H.R. No. 987 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Nan Napier has long been an invaluable supporter of the YWCA in El Paso; and WHEREAS, Inspired by her mother, who was also an advocate of the YWCA, Mrs. Napier first served the organization through the YWCA Consumer Credit Counseling Service; her education in business and accounting was a tremendous asset, helping to ensure that the then new initiative would have a solid foundation to help families struggling to manage their finances; thanks in part to her efforts, the counseling service has helped thousands of families and returned as much as $9 million to $10 million annually to creditors; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Napier continues her contributions today as the owner of Tres Mariposas, a women's clothing boutique; she has made generous donations that have bolstered the spirits and confidence of many residents of the YWCA Sara McKnight Transitional Living Center, which provides essential services to homeless women and children; and WHEREAS, Embracing community service as a core business as well as personal philosophy, Mrs. Napier views commitment to her fellow residents as a cornerstone of her company, now in its 37th year; she assists more than 15 organizations and events annually, and she further gives to the YWCA by supporting its annual women's luncheon; and WHEREAS, The strength of our communities and the vitality of the State of Texas depend on the dedication of women like Nan Napier; she uses her considerable talents and charitable spirit to serve others, and it is a pleasure to join the YWCA in honoring her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby commend Nan Napier for her efforts in behalf of the YWCA in El Paso and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Napier as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
