A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the closure of certain instant lottery games.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 466, Government Code, is
amended by adding Section 466.257 to read as follows:
Sec. 466.257. CLOSURE OF INSTANT LOTTERY GAMES. The
commission may not initiate procedures to close an instant lottery
game until at least 85 percent of all tickets for the game have been
sold.
SECTION 2. Section 466.257, Government Code, as added by
this Act, applies to an instant lottery game for which tickets are
offered for sale on or after the effective date of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
