The bill would amend the Government Code and Penal Code by allowing persons with a concealedhandgun license to carry a concealed handgun while on the campus of a public or private institution ofhigher education. The bill places no specific requirements on state agencies; however, highereducation institutions anticipate the need for training for campus law enforcement officers and theneed for storage facilities and policies related to the storage of handguns in residential facilities. Theadditional costs related to the bill are not expected to be significant. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
