O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:SB1214 by Deuell (Relating to consumption advisories for mercury contamination in fish, crustaceans, molluscan shellfish, and other aquatic and terrestrial animals.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would require the Department of State Health Services to post consumption advisory signs for mercury contaminated fish, crustaceans, molluscan shellfish and other aquatic and terrestrial animals around certain bodies of water. DSHS currently posts advisory signs if mercury if found above 0.7 mg/kg. The bill would lower it to 0.3 mg/kg. It is assumed that any cost associated with posting the new signs can be absorbed within existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
