The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Penal Code relating to the prosecution of sexual offenses, the exemption from the duty to register as a sex offender for certain persons, and the filing of statements of affirmative findings for certain conditions involving sex offenses. The bill would alter the age requirements between the actor and victim regarding affirmative defense to prosecution for the certain sexual offenses and makes changes to the criteria for findings of fact related to the age of the defendant in sexual offense cases. The Office of Court Administration and the Department of Public Safety anticipate no significant fiscal implication to the State from the provisions of the bill. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
