 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the adoption of rules by the supreme court relating to
 the nonrenewal of the license of an attorney who defaults on a
 student loan administered by the Texas Higher Education
 Coordinating Board.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Section 82.022(c), Government Code, is amended
 to read as follows:
 (c) The supreme court may adopt rules relating to the
 nonrenewal of the license of a lawyer who is in default on:
 (1) a loan guaranteed under Chapter 57, Education
 Code, by the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation; or
 (2)  a loan administered under Chapter 52, Education
 Code, by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
