LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION May 27, 2009 TO: Honorable David Dewhurst, Lieutenant Governor, Senate FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board IN RE:SB1896 by Gallegos (Relating to the grievance procedure for firefighters and police officers in certain municipalities.), As Passed 2nd House No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would amend Chapters 143 and 147 of the Local Government Code relating to employment matters regarding firefighters and police officers. Local Government Impact It is anticipated that the majority of the proposed changes would have no fiscal impact on units of local government. Proposed changes to Section 143.0052, Local Government Code, would affect just the City of Garland. Because that portion of the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
