The bill would amend Chapter 251, Health and Safety Code, relating to licensing of end stage renal disease facilities. Hospitals that provide dialysis services to individuals receiving inpatient services are already exempt; the bill would expand the exemption to include those hospitals providing outpatient dialysis services to individuals who are temporarily relocated due to a disaster. The Department of State Health Services indicates that any costs to implement the provisions of the bill, which would include promulgating rules, could be absorbed within existing resources.
