                    LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD    Austin, Texas      FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION            May 18, 2009      TO: Honorable John T. Smithee, Chair, House Committee on Insurance      FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB207 by Shapleigh (Relating to prohibition of certain business practices related to rescission of coverage under health benefit plans.), As Engrossed    No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend the Insurance Code to prohibit certain compensation based on rescinding, canceling, or limiting coverage under health benefit plans. Any costs incurred by the Texas Department of Insurance due to the implementation of this bill are anticipated to be absorbed within existing agency resources. Based on analysis by the University of Texas System Administration and the State Office of Risk Management, this bill will have no fiscal impact on either agency. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
