 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to coordinated health education for certain public school
 principals and superintendents.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Section 21.054, Education Code, is amended by
 adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
 (d)  Continuing education requirements for a superintendent
 or a principal of an elementary, middle, or junior high school must
 include at least two hours of classroom education training every
 five years regarding coordinated health programs required under
 Sections 38.013 and 38.014. The board, in conjunction with the
 Texas Department of Agriculture, the Department of State Health
 Services, and the agency, shall develop or approve a curriculum
 that may be used for purposes of this subsection. The curriculum
 must provide instruction regarding:
 (1) health education;
 (2) physical education and physical activity;
 (3) nutrition services; and
 (4) parental involvement.
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
