 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the program to educate cattle producers about
 trichonomoniasis.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 161, Agriculture Code, is
 amended by adding Section 161.0413 to read as follows:
 Sec. 161.0413.  TRICHONOMONIASIS EDUCATION PROGRAM. The
 commission shall develop and implement a program to:
 (1) educate cattle producers on:
 (A)  the prevalence of trichonomoniasis in cattle
 in this state;
 (B)  the impact of trichonomoniasis on cattle
 production; and
 (C)  the benefits of identifying virgin bulls
 infected with trichonomoniasis; and
 (2)  encourage cattle producers to test virgin bulls
 for trichonomoniasis.
 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
