Solomons, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs      FROM: John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board     IN RE:SB390 by Patrick, Dan (Relating to confidentiality of certain information under the public information law and in local tax appraisal records regarding federal law enforcement officers.), As Engrossed    No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.  The bill would amend Section 25.025, Tax Code, to keep the property tax information confidential for a criminal investigator of the United States and for a police officer or inspector of the United States Federal Protective Service. The bill would also amend Chapter 552.1175, Government Code, to allow these individuals to restrict public access to confidential information such as their home address, telephone number or social security number. The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.  Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
