The bill would amend the Family Code relating to providing access to certain information relating to the discretionary transfer of a child from a juvenile court to a criminal court. The bill would lengthen the time before a transfer hearing from juvenile court to criminal court that a juvenile must have access to all written materials to be considered by the court from one day to five days. To the extent the bill would amend court procedure, the rules change is not anticipated to increase the workload of the courts. The bill would take effect September 1, 2009. Local Government Impact No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
