The bill would apply the provisions under Chapter 175, Local Government Code, to employees who retire from employment by an appraisal district in a county with a population of 75,000 or more. Chapter 175 authorizes the purchase of continued health insurance coverage for employees of certain political subdivisions. Local Government Impact A retiree who chooses to purchase continued health insurance coverage would be responsible for the costs, although the appraisal district may experience administrative costs. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
