The bill would authorize a prescribing practitioner to issue multiple prescriptions authorizing a patient to receive a total of up to a 90-day supply of a Schedule II controlled substance under certain conditions. The bill would authorize the director of the Department of Public Safety to adopt rules to establish a procedure for the issuance of multiple prescriptions of a Schedule II controlled substance. The Texas State Board of Pharmacy and the Department of Public Safety anticipate duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
