Throughout the past decade, the City of Grapevine has been engaged each year in expanding its repertoire of Christmas activities in order to offer one of the most enjoyable experiences of Christmas in Texas. During the Christmas season, the city is now the site of over 1,400 Christmas activities and special features that range from alluring light decorations to magnificent stage productions at the Palace Theatre. The attractions also include the Gaylord Texan Lone Star Christmas ICE! event, the Great Wolf Lodge "Snowland," Christmas on Main entertainment, horse-drawn buckboard and carriage rides, the North Pole Express, and the Christmas Gnome Village and North Pole Polar Bear display. Animated Victorian characters are installed throughout the city, and residents in costumes stroll the Historic District; choreographed light shows are held every evening at Town Square, and countless Christmas lights illuminate the streets. The arrival of the Christmas season in Grapevine is an opportunity for residents and visitors to celebrate the city's rich history, its charm, and the many amenities it offers today. RESOLVED That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas hereby declare the City of Grapevine the Christmas Capital of Texas and extend best wishes to all who contribute to the unique experience of Christmas in Grapevine. That a copy of this resolution be prepared in honor of Grapevine and its impressive Christmas seasons.
